Scoliosis is a somewhat rare condition, and is unique to everyone depending on the degree of curvature and combination with other problems like Kyphosis. As such Beatriz is just the kind of PT that can help with this condition, thanks to her deep knowledge of anatomy / biomechanics, and her training with Katrina Schroth (founder of the world famous Scoliosis-focused PT program). Speaking for myself, she helped me relieve chronic pain and find a long-term way to manage my scoliosis without resorting to life-threatening surgery. I cannot praise her more highly.

In May 2021 I was diagnosed with rotoscoliosis. But neither my spine doctor nor my physical therapist could offer any treatment for the condition. So I did some research and found the Schroth Method and Beatriz Torres, who offered immediately to help me. In the space of four months Beatriz taught me about the Schroth Method and critical postural changes which provided rapid improvement. I also had numerous other back issues and a pelvis issue which Beatriz incorporated into my treatment plan. This overall treatment changed my quality of life to the fullest. I no longer had pain in my left hip or left SI joint and began to feel safe in my body again. I also became stronger and able to do things that I had been too weak to do before. She really gave me my life back. Beatriz is extremely knowledgeable and patient. I was not the easiest person to teach yet she was able to penetrate my stubborn head! I am highly indebted to Beatriz and would recommend her to anyone.

My physical therapy sessions with Beatriz Torres have been nothing short of life changing. I have moderate scoliosis and, until I started working with her, I was having trouble doing day to day activities or even walking. After months of traditional PT failed to alleviate the pain and imbalance I was experiencing, I was referred to Beatriz because of her highly specialized training and knowledge around treating Scoliosis. As one of only a handful of practitioners trained in the Schroth Method in the US, her scoliosis specific approach worked wonders for me, even after the first week of working with Beatriz. She utilizes patient’s cell phones to capture video and photos for reference at home and to give patients a better understanding of their own body mechanics. I found these tools, as well as the detailed notes taken throughout each session, to be especially helpful. I work in front of a computer all day and spend most of my free time designing clothes. Treatment with Beatriz has enabled me to do both of those things pain free. In short, if you’re struggling with back issues and want effective results, I highly recommend Beatriz Torres.

Beatriz works through the fundamentals when working with her patients. As a person with mild lumbar scoliosis I have seen many physical therapists, chiropractors and sports doctors over the years to help me with my running and the odd feeling of feeling stronger on one side versus another. Beatriz was the first PT who started with the basics and made me feel the difference using posture correction and changes in how we do ADL ( activities of daily living). The experience for me has been life changing to say the least. I am now able to do a lot more things that I used to struggle with before. All of this progress within weeks of seeing her is incredible. Kudos to her patience, her methodology and most importantly the immense care she shows for everyone who reaches out to her.

It was a great pleasure working with Beatriz. Having tried several other treatment methods before, I've found Schroth to be the most helpful and targeted therapy for scoliosis. Beatriz's decades of experience as a physical therapist in addition to her personal experience with scoliosis make her an excellent teacher. A huge part of scoliosis therapy is about self-education--learning more about the imbalances in my own body and how to maintain in correction during every day activities. At the end of my two week sessions with her, I've come away with a clearer understanding of my own body, a tool kit of scoliosis-specific stretches and exercises to do every day, and most importantly, confidence that in spite of this condition, I can still live a full life and avoid disability when I get older.
