A little paradise goes a long way when you are in recovery! The Summit recovery center is essentially a converted Italian/Spanish Villa tucked into a quiet neighborhood in the first set of hills just west of Foothill Expressway. The place itself, but more importantly the staff and the program, far exceeded my expectations. Often with limited "guests" (and no more than 8), you will experience extremely personalized care as you commence on your journey to sobriety. Full time nursing staff, Dr. appointments as needed, and a professional chef for gourmet and healthy meals makes this place ideal to stay calm and relaxed while learning steps to maintain sobriety. Summit does not push any particular program, though the enrollment may say 12 step plan. In reality, you will explore multiple programs including recovery Dharma, Smart Recovery and others. You will learn about the disease and how it affects you, and they will teach you techniques to help control the urge by rehearsing situations in the future, and finding ways to maintain sobriety. After the typical 28 day program, to help reinforce what you have learned, there is an outpatient program you can enroll in to help. From there they strongly suggest that you continue with your chosen online or in person meeting with AA or the others, or even a combination. It's almost shocking how many of these groups exist throughout the bay area, and in many cases the world. Further, the people that are in these programs give back their time to you generously and without asking anything from you. I have to say that because of the limited number of guests staying there (often just 2), this place is THE BEST! Whatever facility you join please do it and don't be afraid. It is extraordinarily life changing for myself, my family and friends, to have me back the way I once was.
