D F1 StarIf you your loved one is in the “new building” as the staff reference the Morris Hyman Critical Care Pavilion you practically have to walk a mile from the front registration/check-in desk at the main entrance since the hospital does not staff people there since the pandemic!!! If you have a disability of walking then please be prepare for the long walk or ask for wheelchair assistance. I have provided pictures of the walk as well.Monday 3rd March 2025
Jason Josip (Box)2 StarNursing staff here are all extremely polite and professional. However, when it comes to doing actual work, they all seem to pass the buck repeatedly. Not a single doctor here does a single scrap of work for a living. The doctors share the most unprofessional, unethical and lazy people I have ever had. The unfortunate pleasure of being alongside. A case manager and social workers here actively try to not do a single thing to help you. I'm convinced this hospital is designed to murder people. Despite the fact that no one assists you with absolutely anything, they repeatedly tried to administer me wrong medications, and filled my chart with incorrect information. I can only imagine the horrors that befall patients who can advocate for themselves. I've stayed here 3 weeks on this stay, and three other times this past year. Each time I stay here the experience gets worse and worse and worse. This past stay was a horrific nightmare that will haunt me until the end of my days. Stay away from this hospital at all costs.Tuesday 11th February 2025
Nicole Angco5 StarThis review is primarily about the staff on the 6 West floor. They were STELLAR! From the nurses and doctors, to the orderlies, to the housekeeping staff and food and nutrition teams - all of them were extremely kind, friendly and accommodating.
My grandmother collapsed and was dealing with compression fractures in her spine and was rushed to the ER. She was admitted for almost two weeks and I visited her every day that she was there. As I am 7 months pregnant, the entire 6West team even went out of their way in ensuring MY comfort as well as my grandmother's. They'd bring extra pillows, blankets, snacks, etc.
They took such good care of my grandmother, we almost didn't want to leave when she was finally cleared for discharge.
I'd like to give a special shout out to her nurses: Melissa, Valerie, Rav, Lorena, Lalaine - they were so gentle with my grandma and would call her "Mama" and hold her hand at night when she was scared that she'd never be able to walk again. I have to say, the ER staff were also extremely friendly and helpful.
Overall, I always highly recommend Washington Hospital - their staff is absolutely wonderful.Friday 24th January 2025
No One5 StarI was recently admitted here for my stomach pain and I had a very positive exp with Dr Bealle at ER. He discovered that I had very high A1C, he prescribed me med right away and i saved my life. I will prefer to have my self checked by the doctors who studied in the US. My ex husband was admitted here and we didn't have a positive experience with the doctor we got that time. Doctor lacked bed side manners. Later when we searched his name found he came with his MBBS degree from India. May be Washington hospital should start hiring doctors who get education in the US. Specially after the rating are so bad.Friday 10th January 2025
Steven C4 StarFirst off, I want to emphasize some important things about the Washington Hospital Birthing experience here in case people don't read the full review:
1.) Breast-Feeding First Hospital
Washington Hospital is a breast-feeding first hospital and they will highly encourage (at times maybe push) for this way of feeding for the newborn. In case you already know you don't want this specific method, you should probably search another hospital that is more alternative friendly to formula or expressing milk from pumping into a bottle.
2.) Natural Delivery (not officially stated)
Based on my experience, they also highly prefer doing a natural delivery if at all possible rather than going for a c-section. Of course they will make the right call if there is a high-risk of natural delivery issues but they will try their best to give a natural delivery if they can.
3.) No Nursery (only NICU - neonatal intensive care unit)
For safety reasons, they have gotten rid of their general nursery (no chance of accidentally switching the baby with another as well as more bonding time with the baby). As such, keep in mind that your baby will be with you at all times even when you are exhausted and need a break. If you prefer a hospital with a general nursery so you can rest, you should also look elsewhere.
FULL REVIEW (more detailed breakdown):
[[ Parking ]]
Although they have ample parking and overflow lots in the adjacent street, the actual parking lot in front of the hospital/birthing center is small and tight in size. If you happen to go at a busy time, you definitely will not find parking and this can be stress-inducing if your wife is already feeling contractions. They do have a drop-off / pick-up area but I did not find the overall parking situation great. I hope they are able to expand out their parking lot in the future in front of the main entrance to relieve stress.
[[ Security ]]
There is a security check-in and bag inspection before even getting to the 2nd floor birthing area. When the baby is born, they will also be geo-tagged to make sure they are not taken out of the hospital without permission and they are very careful around this area.
[[ Labor & Delivery Staff, Security, Postpartum Staff, Doctors ]]
Overall, I would like to say most of the staff here are extremely caring and very supportive. They would check-in often to see how things are going and I believe genuinely love their jobs and babies as well. The staff that helped us were all parents themselves and can relate to what we are going through and always gave tips on what to do in the future in order to have an easier time.
Keep in mind, a variety of staff (nurse, lab staff, doctors) will be in and out at various times so expect a TON of traffic into your room. On the whiteboard in your room, you will have a dedicated nurse and a supervisor (in case you can't reach your nurse) with their numbers to dial in case you need help. They all have shifts so the staff will change often after their shift is over and you will get a new staff to help you.
[[ Facilities ]]
Before you are officially admitted, you will first go to a holding room for a while to make sure the labor and delivery is actually coming soon. After that, they will move you to your permanent room. The permanent room is decently sized and the pull out-bed couch for me was long enough (I'm 5' 11'' and fit well). We overpacked since we had no idea what we needed but I was able to fit my medium sized luggage, two backpacks, a duffel, and various other blankets/pillows without too much issue. See picture for a general idea of what it looks like.
The only downside I think of the room is the bathroom/shower area. It's VERY small and I only used the shower once since I thought it was uncomfortable. I'm not sure how someone who just delivered a baby can comfortably use the shower without feeling cramped. Hopefully it will get a remodel soon?Wednesday 8th November 2023
